Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, born on 4th, May 1948, in Doraha, Dt.Ludhiana in Punjab (India) is a well-known Punjabi comedian. He is also faculty at Punjab Agricultural University.[1] He is famous for his Punjabi skits in his Chankata series. He started his professional carrier with an audio cassette titled CHHANKATA 88 in 1988. So far he has given 27 Punjabi Comedy albums under the same Title i.e. Chhankata. He is one of the top Punjabi comedians presently active. He has appeared in few Punjabi films and few comedy serials as well. His comedy focuses on Indian issues like politics, policemen, corruption, inflation, education, sports and other household problems in Punjab. His stage name is Chacha Chatur Singh. Bal Mukand Sharma stage name Balla or Bhateej has been his partner in all his cassettes so far and started the group with him, while Neelu who is also active member of the group joined in 1996.[2] Various other artists like Sukwinder Sukhi and Dolly Malkit Singh have also appeared.

Chacha Chatur Singh: He is the main character in the album series. he is a old villager, who makes fun of city people and talks of the issues related to the rural Punjab and state politics.
Bhana: Another character, Bhana is a youngster from Chatur Singh's village. This character represents a big portion of Punjabi youth. He has emigrated to USA and appears in the Chankata video as just arrived back to see his wife Bhano. He drives Truck in USA, has spikey hair, and behaves like a typical NRI.
JB JB is son of Chacha Chatur Singh. He really likes to visit Australia often.

In his album Chankatta 2003, he was alleged by certain ragi jathas of making mockery of them and raised strong objections to his album. An apology was issued by the artists and producer of the album.[3] His latest album Mithe Pochey is also facing ire of Nambardaars of various villages in Punjab for his satire on them.[4]
